Festival Gurupournima
“Om gurubhyo namah” , the word “Guru” symbolizes the unique form of worship and path to self realisation.
“Gu” means darkness and “ru” means destroyer. Guru means the one who destroys the darkness and brings you eternal light.
The day Gurupournima is the steering festival driving the year towards our beloved Swami. This day began with Maha –Nagarsankeerthan, with more than 300 people joining the procession to smear the streets with godly smell. The evening programme was with great unison organised by Vanasthalipuram, Sarroornagar and Naacharam zones. The programme began with vedam chanting by the Deena Janodharana children from Chipumunthala village (Adopted village of Naacharam zone). It was surprise for all the devotees to find rural children chanting the ethereal vedic chants. No wonder Swami can turn the dumb into great singers.
This was followed by a concept based skit called “Sadguru Sai Jananam”.This was a skit based on swami's child hood days, where many well known vedic pandits visited swami's house recognizing his divinity.
The skit depicted Mother Eswaramba being used as instrument to solve divine querries. This was well staged with a humourous back drop, of a guru-shishya comic scenes of a ignorant disciple and a realised Guru.
The programme then took a emotional turn, where in two of the children from the adopted village staged a conversational presentation named " Sai Roopakam". This short presentation contained a well composed conversation of a village boy benifitting from swami's teachings conveying the same to his ignorant father, who first denies the existence of god. The presentation ended with Father transforming himself to a better human being.
The greatest achievement in Human life is to touch another's heart. This becomes even difficult when somebody's mental condition is unstable. But swami can touch any one on his created universe. The most appreceated programme of the evening was a dance programme by the mentally restarted children of 'Sadhana Institute for Mentally Retarted". The most touching aspect was, although their mental abilities are incoherent with themselves, with love of god and swami's touch, they were in full harmony with each other to put upa great show. Their innocent expression and witty smile put many to tears, showing the devotees what the power of love could do.
The penultimate item of the day was a short and sweet dance programme by village children representing the lambadi section. The children were overwhelmed to find a stage for themselves, who never found a home in th cities. They were in all smiles to dance to the lambadi beats on the divine stage. It was touching to find many in tears overjoyed by the treatment of equality at the abode of peace, Shivam.
The grand Finale was well decked with a wonderous presentation of 'Sampoorna Ramayanam'. It was beautiful presentation in fullness of story, acting and make up. Though it did not have conventional drama set up, the presentation was aptly done with a background song of " RAMA KAtha" narratted by Lava and kusha. As the sweet little Lava and Kusha narrated the ramayana, the story was moving at a great speed behind them. The devotees were overjoyed to see such coherence, discipline, and harmony among all the 30 children on the stage. At the end this programme stole the show with huge applause from the devotees. The children were well trained for more than a month to gain perfection by the dance teacher 'Chandrashekar', who happens to run a Dance School in Vanasthalipuram. He being swami's devotee and an active member of the youth, disciplines the children first with Bal-Vikas activities and then trains them with dance.
The programme then ended with all the children being gifted tokens of swami's love. This was followed by Harathi and Prasadam distribution.
